BRAZIL STOP MOTION 2013

III Brazil Stop Motion Internacional Film Festival

Submissions: from JUNE 17th to OCTOBER 1st, 2013

1. The Brazil Stop Motion 2013 – III Brazil Stop Motion International Film Festival – will take place from 26-30 of November 2013, in Recife, in the state of Pernambuco.

2. Only films made from January 2011 using the Stop Motion animation technique (according to the definition of item 3) will be accepted by Brazil Stop Motion 2013.

3. Stop Motion animation consists of the movement achieved with three-dimensional objects or living figures, captured frame by frame and creating a sequence of animation.

4. In the case of mixed media, only the films with a content of at least 75% of Stop Motion animation will be accepted.

CATEGORIES

5. The films must be submitted in one of the following categories:

  • Stop Motion of up to 10 minutes
  • Stop Motion with more than 10 minutes

6. All the films will be submitted to the Selection Commission of Brazil Stop Motion 2013. The choosing of the Selection Commission is final and irrevocable, and will follow strict technical, artistic and ethical criteria.

SELECTION AND AWARDS

7. The result of the selection of Brazil Stop Motion will be announced no later than October 15th, 2013.

8. In the event that the Official Committee finds it pertinent, the festival will give trophies and awards for the following categories:

  • Best Stop Motion of up to 10 minutes
  • Best Stop Motion of more than 10 minutes
  • Best Student’s Stop Motion

9. Trophies will also be given in the following categories:

  • Best Brazilian Stop Motion
  • Best Stop Motion of the Public
  • Best Stop Motion for Children
  • Best Photography
  • Best Screenplay
  • Best Art Direction
  • Best Sound

10. The Official Committee has the right not to give any of the awards listed above in the event that they consider there is no merit for the rewarding there of. At the same time, they can give other specific awards, which they consider pertinent.

11. The awards will be defined by the Official Committee formed by three members with industry recognized cinematographic and/or artistic knowledge, and they will announce the results during the closing ceremony. The choice of the winners by the Official Committee is final, irrevocable and will follow strict technical, artistic and ethical criteria.

SUBMISSIONS

12. Submissions are free of charge submissions and must be done online (by using the electronic form found at www.brasilstopmotion.com.br).

13. Each film must be registered online individually, even when the same director or producer has more than one film to submit.

14. In the online submission form, the participant should inform how the movies will be sent (online or via mail).

15. Pictures of the director and film (still), and synopsis must also be sent exclusively via the online subscription form.

SENDING MOVIES

16. The movies could be sent online or by mail.

FILMS SENT BY THE INTERNET (ONLINE)

17. Film files must be exclusively in format .MOV (Quick Time) with Codec H264, in the dimensions HD or Full HD. The upload can be done by Wetransfer.com (2 GB free) or in a similar service and then send to the following email: filmes@brasilstopmotion.com.br

18. The name of the file to be sent should be the same as the movie title, as it appears in the submission form. After the download of the movie, the enrollee will receive a confirmation from the festival team.

19. Each film must be sent online individually, even when the same director or producer has more than one film to submit.

20. Language and subtitle. The official language of the festival is Portuguese. Films with dialogues, narration, charts, texts and/or music in other languages than the official one, must be subtitled in Portuguese. Other way, it should be included in the online submission of the film another file (in .txt format) with the text of the film (dialogue, narration or chart), indicating the time-code. Texts without time-code will not be considered.

FILMS SENT BY MAIL

21. The material must be sent by Sedex or EMS.

22. Every sender must declare that the value of the object is less than US$ 5.00 (five American dollars).

23. All material sent from abroad must contain this information on the envelope: NO COMMERCIAL VALUE, FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY.

24. The films and additional documents (see item 20) must be sent by mail to the following address:

25. Films must be submitted in 02 (two) copies on DVD data disk in the formats .MOV (Quick Time), with Codec H264.

* The responsibility for verifying that the correct recording belongs to the person who submitted the film. It is required that interactive menus and stickers are not included.

26. Each DVD must be sent in proper packaging that must include a label containing the title and the length of the film, as well as the name and address of the participant.

27. Language and subtitles. The official language of the festival is Portuguese. Films with dialogues, narration, charts, texts and/or music in other languages than the official ones, they must be subtitled in Portuguese. Other way, it should be included on DVD data disk, a file (in .txt format) with the text of the film (dialogue, narration or chart), indicating the time-code. Texts without time-code will not be considered.

28. Mailing expenses are the contestants’ responsibility. The coordinators of the festival will not be responsible for deviation or other expenses incurred in the mailing of the material.

USE OF THE WORKS

29. The person responsible for submitting the film authorizes Brasil Stop Motion 2013 to use a 30 second extract of their work for promotional purposes on television and on the Internet, this includes the static images (stills, making of or promotional frames of the work) to be used in newspapers and brochures.

30. The person responsible for submitting the film authorizes the festival coordinators to promote exhibitions of their selected and/or rewarded works in educational and cultural activities with no commercial purposes.

31. Apart from the cases mentioned in items 29 and 30, the submitted, selected and rewarded films will not be used in their full format without the previous authorization of the copyright holders.

32. The material sent for submission will not be returned to the senders, and it will remain in the collection of Brazil Stop Motion 2013.

It is accepted at the moment of submission, that Brazil Stop Motion 2013 is an initiative that aims for the diffusion of the national and international production of Stop Motion animation. Submission assumes the total acceptance of the present regulation.
